Samaj Pragati Sahayog welcomes people who are compassionate, competent, and committed to creating change. People who have the passion, determination and energy to work on its myriad development interventions, who will provide creativity and commitment to each of our organisation's initiatives, who are capable of egoless team-work and who seek a challenging professional environment that is both enriching and rewarding. We would like people from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds, especially those whose voices and experiences are not always represented in conventional educational and professional spaces.

Together, we hope to create a community of people who can learn from one another and support each other to shape more equitable and sustainable futures.

The selected candidates are expected to work in close coordination at the grassroots with village communities in each of these aspects of their work. The chosen persons also provide, as members of our SVO faculty, training and field-based support to our partner organisations. We look forward to people who like to take time out to reflect and write about what they do.

Over the years we have had students from TISS, IRMA, XISS, Department of Social Work, Jamia Milia Islamia, Delhi School of Social Work, GB Pant Social Science Institute, Indore School of Social Work, along with a host of people from different universities, as well as engineering, management, film and design institutes who have chosen to work with SPS.

For the right person, we offer an attractive pay package, including provident fund, gratuity, and medical expenses. We take care to provide comfortable accommodation at our campuses and federation offices in the initial period until the candidate finds a residence of their choice. In addition to the salary, the selected candidate will also receive additional benefits including medical insurance, reimbursement for travel expenses and mobile allowance

Programme Officer, Water Governance

📍 Dewas & Khargone, Madhya Pradesh
Qualification:Post-graduate degree in Water Governance/ Development/ Social Work/ Rural Management/ Geology, or B.E./B.Tech in Agriculture Engineering (preferred).

Description: The concept of Participatory Irrigation Management (PIM) is recognised worldwide as a tool for improving irrigation management along with sustainability of the system, addressing "last mile connectivity" and making water accessible for tail-end women farmers. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing multi-dimensional interventions in Water Governance, working primarily with small and marginal women farmers, with a focus on Water Governance, Water Accessibility, Soil Conservation, and Optimum Use of irrigated water.

Key Responsibilities:
• Implement the Participatory Irrigation Management Programme at designated locations.
• Promote participatory, equitable and sustainable management of surface and ground water resources.
• Facilitate creation and functioning of Water-User Groups around groundwater and surface water.
• Develop participatory governance systems for common pool resources such as groundwater.
• Prepare and implement watershed, NRM and livelihood plans for Water-User Groups.
• Organise campaigns and public meetings to generate awareness on sustainable water use.
• Document stories of social transformation made possible through water security.
• Conduct empowerment programmes for NGOs, PRI members, government officials and community members.
• Assist in developing training material for the Baba Amte Centre for People's Empowerment.

Programme Officer, Entitlement, Health & Nutrition

📍 Dewas & Khargone, Madhya Pradesh
Qualification:Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Public Health/ Rural Development/ Social Work (preferable).
Experience:2-3 years in rural development/community mobilisation (public health experience preferable)

Description: The Entitlement Programme, in collaboration with the Health and Nutrition Programme, envisions establishing robust institutions within impoverished communities to address governance shortcomings in tribal regions, supporting pregnant women and addressing malnutrition among children. The selected candidate will develop and implement multi-dimensional interventions in Entitlement, Health and Nutrition, working primarily with women, young girls and children, with focus on Rights-based Governance, Maternal and Child Health & Nutrition, Maternal/Infant Mortality Rate, and smooth functioning of ICDS and MDM.

Key Responsibilities:
• Implement the Entitlement, Health and Nutrition Programme at designated locations.
• Understand and execute the programme design and strategy effectively.
• Coordinate with healthcare institutions, ICDS, Public Schools, PRIs and CSOs for quality implementation.
• Collect, analyse and monitor programme data through extensive field visits.
• Integrate organisational initiatives through women-led federations.
• Facilitate engagement between rural communities, PRIs and government agencies to enhance access to public healthcare.

Programme Officer, Self Help Group

📍 Dewas & Khargone, Madhya Pradesh
Qualification:Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Rural Development/ Social Work/ MBA (Social Impact/ Social Entrepreneurship) preferable.
Experience:1-3 years working with rural communities

Description: The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing multi-dimensional interventions in the Self-Help Group programme, working primarily with women to build community-led institutions, with focus on financial independence, a range of financial products (savings, recurring/fixed deposits, loans), transparent and inclusive decision-making, and social change within households.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support, assist and implement the SHG Programme and related livelihood interventions.
• Work closely with SHG women to build strong, community-led institutions.
• Integrate organisational initiatives through women-led Federations.
• Facilitate engagement between rural communities, PRIs and government agencies to strengthen initiatives.

Programme Officer, Sustainable Agriculture

Description: SPS advocates for low-risk, low-cost, nature-positive agricultural practices that minimise reliance on chemical inputs. The selected candidate will develop and implement multi-dimensional interventions in sustainable agriculture with small and marginal women farmers, grounded in Nature-Positive Management of Agriculture — soil conservation, land-use planning, bio-farming and biodiversity conservation.

Sr. Programme Officer, Sustainable Agriculture

Description: The selected candidate will handle Quarterly Progress Reports (QPR), proposals and reports for various donor agencies and research institutes, within the Sustainable Agriculture/Forest Livelihood and landscape management programmes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Write project reports for various donors.
• Timely submission of QPR, quarterly and annual reports.
• Document case studies across different programmes.
• Develop project proposals for new donor agencies.

Description: The selected candidate will handle Monitoring & Evaluation of the organisation's multi-pronged livelihood interventions — agriculture, SHG, livestock and watershed — and support the development of the M&E framework across programmes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop an M&E framework for SPS's various programmes and projects.
• Guide the process of identifying and designing key indicators, progress-recording tools and reports.
• Participate in developing and testing innovative M&E methods across programme activities.
• Support accurate and timely data collection, collation and analysis across SPS projects.
• Support documentation of project results, processes, success stories and fact sheets.
• Work towards building local institutions and assist the Women's Empowerment Programme.
• Coordinate with the village community, PRIs and government agencies.
• Assist in developing training material for the Baba Amte Centre for People's Empowerment.
